How did payment change over time among the same established Brainly subscribers?

Among 2,523 established Brainly subscribers, the quarterly share paying Brainly fell from about 15% in 2022 to 2.3% in the second quarter of 2026. Paid general AI rose from about 0% to 15.0%, while paid homework-help competitors fell from a peak near 6.7% to 1.5%.

Did paid AI usually appear immediately after the last Brainly receipt?

No. Although 1,085 of 1,461 Brainly subscribers who ever paid for AI first did so after their last Brainly receipt, the supplied evidence places the median gap at roughly 725 days. The payment pattern changed over years, not as an immediate switch, and does not show that AI caused a Brainly cancellation.

Which services were included in the two destination groups?

General AI covered ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini Advanced or Google AI Pro, and Copilot Pro. Homework-help rivals covered Chegg, Quizlet, Photomath, Course Hero, Numerade, and Bartleby. Free use is not visible, and app-store receipt timing can be lumpy.

Assumptions & Methodologies

We analyzed YipitData’s U.S. e-receipt panel from 2021 through August 2026. Brainly payment required a positive-price Apple, Google, or direct receipt. Lapsed subscribers had no Brainly receipt in the trailing 12 months. The quarterly comparison followed the same 2,523 users who were present before July 2022 and recently active. Paid AI and homework-help groups used the named services in the article. App-store timing is lumpy, free use is invisible, general-AI adoption is widespread, and the sequence does not establish substitution or why Brainly payments ended.
