Assumptions & Methodologies
We analyzed U.S. e-receipt panelists who remained observable throughout the comparison period and had direct Canva subscription receipts and paid ChatGPT plan signals; OpenAI API and verification emails were excluded. Overlap was measured in 12-month windows, with Adobe subscribers as a benchmark. The retention cohort comprised H1 2025 subscribers, classified by ChatGPT status before July 1 and checked for a Canva receipt from July 2025–August 2026. App-store billing is undercounted, so overlap is a floor. Retention captures renewal, not plan changes. ChatGPT holders may be heavier users, so the retention gap is associational, not causal or proof of monetization potential.
