Which mainstream game franchises appeared more often among people with a DC Universe Online receipt?

Fortnite appeared for 78.7% of people with a DC Universe Online receipt versus 67.7% of the comparison cohort. EA live sports or Apex appeared for 75.1% versus 60.3%, Roblox for 60.4% versus 49.2%, and Call of Duty for 75.6% versus 68.6%. These are receipt-presence comparisons, not measures of play time.

How common were PlayStation Plus and competing MMOs?

PlayStation Plus appeared for 79.8% of the DC Universe Online receipt cohort and 72.1% of comparable free-to-play adopters. A competing MMO receipt appeared for 31.1% and 21.3%, respectively. The MMO group included World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XIV, The Elder Scrolls Online, and similar titles.

Does a free DCUO acquisition establish retention or spending?

No. The DCUO acquisition event was often a $0 console receipt that timestamps entry. It does not show later play, membership conversion, in-game spending, or loyalty. Direct Daybreak subscriptions and some PlayStation wallet renewals are also captured inconsistently, so the article is limited to cross-franchise receipt breadth.

Assumptions & Methodologies

We analyzed YipitData’s U.S. e-receipt panel from 2021–August 2026. The focal cohort comprised 2,211 panelists whose first observed DC Universe Online receipt occurred in 2024 or later; the acquisition event was often a $0 console receipt. The comparison contained 526 people with a first free-to-play PlayStation acquisition in the same era who never acquired DCUO. Breadth counted receipts across five groups: Fortnite, Call of Duty, Roblox, EA live sports/Apex, and competing MMOs. Receipt capture is incomplete, the panel skews slightly male and upper-middle income, and acquisitions do not establish use, retention, spending, substitution, or causation.
