How did repeat purchase rates compare across the three camera brands?
DJI owners bought DJI again at 68.8% among 48 returning owners, compared with GoPro’s 42.7% among 89 and Insta360’s 50.0% among 22. The DJI and Insta360 cohorts are small, so these brand-to-brand rates are directional.
Did GoPro gain many owners from DJI or Insta360?
Across 159 returning owners, GoPro lost 51 buyers to DJI or Insta360 and gained fewer than five from those two brands. Cells below five were masked, so the exact inbound GoPro count is not available.
Assumptions & Methodologies
We analyzed action and POV camera-body purchases in YipitData’s U.S. e-receipt panel. Entry brand was each panelist’s earliest observed GoPro, DJI Osmo Action or Pocket, or Insta360 camera purchase in 2021–2023; next brand was the earliest camera-body purchase in 2024 through August 2026. Accessories, batteries, mounts, DJI drones, gimbals, and microphones were excluded. The data covers brand-tagged purchases at third-party electronics and warehouse retailers; Amazon and GoPro.com direct purchases were not reliably brand-tagged and are excluded. Returning-owner samples were GoPro n=89, DJI n=48, and Insta360 n=22. Results are directional panel observations, not audited sales, and do not establish why owners switched or whether they later returned.
