How did full-year SiriusXM overlap compare?
Across the full August 2025–July 2026 window, 15.8% of paid iHeartRadio subscribers also paid SiriusXM, compared with 7.9% of paid Spotify subscribers. The same-quarter requirement reduced both rates but widened their relative difference from about two times to about 3.3 times. Co-payment does not establish which service appeared first or was used more.
Did iHeartRadio subscribers show the same gap for other audio services?
No similarly large gap appeared for the other measured audio subscriptions. Audible reached 13.9% of iHeartRadio subscribers versus 11.5% of Spotify subscribers, while Pandora reached 1.9% versus 1.8%. This makes the observed difference specific to SiriusXM within the measured set, but it does not explain why subscribers paid for both services.
Assumptions & Methodologies
We analyzed YipitData’s U.S. e-receipt panel from August 2025–July 2026. The iHeartRadio cohort contained 1,051 active panelists with paid Plus or All Access app-store receipts; True Crime+ and unrelated products were excluded. The benchmark contained 103,589 paid Spotify subscribers under the same panel constraints. Annual overlap required both services within the year; concurrent overlap required iHeartRadio or Spotify and SiriusXM within the same calendar quarter. The age comparison included 668 iHeartRadio and 35,564 Spotify subscribers age 45+. Receipt coverage makes overlap a floor. The analysis covers paying subscribers only and does not establish sequence, usage, preference, or causality.
