How often did buyers have recent receipts from both security brands?

Of the 660 Malwarebytes buyers who also had Norton or McAfee receipts, 253, or 38.3%, had a receipt from both brands in the trailing 12 months. Across the longer observation window, 326 buyers had receipts during overlapping inferred active periods.

Which brand had the only recent receipt?

Among the 314 dual holders with only one recently observed brand, 186 had Norton or McAfee and 128 had Malwarebytes. Annual billing cadence means receipt recency is not a precise measure of product use or cancellation.

Why is the Malwarebytes coverage caveat important?

The Malwarebytes buyers identifiable in the panel tilted toward mobile-security subscriptions, Amazon license-code buyers, and direct or reseller invoices because direct-billed desktop Premium was undercaptured. Those channels may overrepresent supplemental buyers, so 18.1% describes this observed group and should not be generalized to the full Malwarebytes customer base.

Assumptions & Methodologies

We analyzed established, still-active U.S. e-receipt panelists from August 2023 through August 2026. Malwarebytes was identified through receipt subject and item text across app stores, Amazon codes, and direct or reseller invoices; Norton and McAfee used merchant labels. Another security brand means any other brand in that three-brand set. A recent receipt means one in the trailing 12 months; concurrency means both brands had receipts during overlapping inferred active periods. The analysis undercaptures direct-billed Malwarebytes desktop Premium and does not establish which product users considered primary.
