Chart data
| Series | Share with recurring Frontier or Fios payments |
|---|---|
| Optimum payments stopped | 2.8% |
| Retained Optimum customers | 0.9% |
Which fiber provider accounted for more of the difference?
Frontier appeared for 2.1% of customers whose Optimum payments stopped and 0.6% of retained customers, a 3.5-times difference. Fios appeared for 0.7% and 0.3%, respectively. The Frontier result included 124 stopped-payment customers, so the provider-specific percentages are estimates.
How much of the stopped-payment group had a traceable replacement?
Only 13.8% had a named connectivity replacement visible in card payments. The remaining 86.2% may include customers who moved recurring bills to bank payments, used a wireless carrier whose home-internet charge was not separable, relocated, or had no observable replacement. The destination results therefore describe the traceable share, not all stopped payments.
Assumptions & Methodologies
We analyzed 27,009 U.S. card panelists who paid Optimum in at least three months during January–June 2025 and remained active in the panel during January–June 2026. The stopped-payment group had no Optimum payment in January–June 2026; a recurring destination required payments in at least two months. Optimum billing can include broadband, mobile, or video, so payment stops are not confirmed broadband cancellations. Bank payments and carrier-billed fixed wireless are undercaptured, and the panel is not weighted to Optimum’s service footprint. The comparison shows later payment relationships, not why customers stopped paying Optimum.
