How recently had these Stash adopters used another investing service?
Among the 248 adopters with a prior investing relationship, 61.7% had a competitor receipt within 60 days before joining Stash and 66.5% had one within 90 days. Only 15.3% had last appeared 181–365 days earlier. The typical relationship was therefore recent rather than long dormant.
How often were new Stash adopters using multiple brokerages?
Among adopters with a prior investing relationship, 37.1% had used at least two tracked brokerages during the prior year. Robinhood was the most common individual relationship, appearing for 14.7% of all new Stash adopters versus 4.9% of panelists with at least 50 receipts per year, a roughly threefold difference.
Does this show that Stash replaced another investing app?
No. The analysis measures activity before Stash adoption and does not test whether competitor use declined afterward. It shows that many adopters added Stash while another investing relationship was still active, not which service later became their primary account.
Assumptions & Methodologies
We identified 635 U.S. e-receipt panelists whose first observed Stash bank-linking confirmation occurred from January 2025–June 2026 and who had a full prior year of observation. A prior relationship required a receipt from Robinhood, Coinbase, SoFi, Charles Schwab, Webull, E*Trade, Wealthfront, or Public in the preceding 12 months. The comparison group required at least 50 receipts per year. The onboarding template appeared intermittently, so results combine new adopters across January 2025–June 2026 rather than showing a trend. Uneven brokerage capture makes prior-investing shares floors; no post-adoption switching or causality is measured.
