How often did SuperGrok and ChatGPT payers also pay for the other service?

Among SuperGrok payers, 36.7% also paid ChatGPT, while 4.9% of ChatGPT payers also paid SuperGrok. The roughly 7.5× difference reflects the two services’ different subscriber bases; it does not show which assistant was primary or whether one caused the other subscription.

Assumptions & Methodologies

We analyzed U.S. e-receipts for paid SuperGrok across Apple, Google Play, and direct billing, excluding X Premium. The overlap window contained 9,688 payers from August 18, 2025–August 17, 2026. The later-receipt cohort established whether users paid another measured AI or only SuperGrok from August 2025–February 2026 and checked for a Grok receipt from June 18–August 17, 2026. Competitors were ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity; Gemini was unavailable. Receipts show billing, not usage, and capture may favor users with more visible subscriptions. Both groups used identical measurement, but the association does not establish that paying multiple services caused persistence.
