Did Battlefield 6 adopters keep buying Call of Duty into 2026?
Yes. After Black Ops 7 became available, 53.0% of Battlefield 6 adopters made any observed Call of Duty purchase, compared with 34.7% of other premium Call of Duty buyers. From February 2026 onward, the rates were 45.1% and 25.9%. The persistent gap does not support broad substitution away from Call of Duty, but it does not show that Battlefield caused the additional purchases.
Assumptions & Methodologies
We analyzed established U.S. e-receipt panelists who bought Black Ops 6 or Modern Warfare III from January 2024–September 2025. Of 37,341 buyers, 6,830 bought a paid Battlefield 6 item from October 10–November 13, 2025, before Black Ops 7 became available; 30,511 did not. We then measured Black Ops 7 and broader Call of Duty purchases through August 18, 2026. Receipt coverage can miss unlinked emails, physical discs, in-store purchases, and free Warzone play. Battlefield adopters were already heavier shooter buyers, so the comparison is observational, not causal, and does not estimate market share or incremental spending.
