Did the January–June 2026 comparison show the same pattern?

Among 70 CuriosityStream cancelers who had another streamer before December 2025, 60.0% showed another streaming receipt in January–June 2026. The comparable rate was 70.1% among 566 retained subscribers, showing a 10.1-point gap but continued streaming for most cancelers.

Which streaming services appeared more often among CuriosityStream subscribers?

In 2025, CuriosityStream subscribers were 4.63 times as likely as other streaming subscribers to pay BritBox, 2.58 times as likely to pay Discovery+, 1.87 times as likely to pay Starz, and 1.81 times as likely to pay AMC+. Netflix appeared less often, at 41.6% versus 56.5%.

Does continued streaming show that CuriosityStream churners will return?

No. The analysis did not measure CuriosityStream reactivation or response to a win-back offer. Direct-channel lifecycle emails provided cancellation timing, while third-party cancellations were excluded; annual billing and unlinked inboxes can also cause other streaming activity to be missed.

Assumptions & Methodologies

We used YipitData’s U.S. e-receipt panel from 2024 through mid-2026. CuriosityStream cancellation timing came from direct lifecycle emails. The combined result used 312 cancelers who held another streaming service before cancellation; continuation required another observed streaming receipt afterward. A January–June 2026 comparison included 70 cancelers who already had another streamer and 566 retained subscribers with another streamer. The 2025 comparison included about 1,077 CuriosityStream subscribers and other streaming subscribers. Connected inboxes, annual billing, and direct-channel cancellation timing limit coverage. Results do not establish category exit, reactivation, substitution, or price causality.
