How much more often did DAZN registrants pay ESPN+?
ESPN+ appeared among 7.4% of the Club World Cup registrant cohort, compared with 2.3% of Netflix subscribers, or 3.2× the benchmark rate. The established DAZN base had a 6.6% ESPN+ rate.
Was the overlap simply a sign that registrants paid for more streaming services?
Peacock appeared at similar rates across the Club World Cup, established DAZN, and Netflix-subscriber cohorts, at roughly 12%–14%. The stronger difference was concentrated in the measured direct-billed live-sports services rather than streaming generally.
Assumptions & Methodologies
We analyzed YipitData’s U.S. e-receipt panel. The Club World Cup group contained 4,847 established, recently active panelists whose first DAZN signal appeared in June or July 2025. The established DAZN group first appeared before May 2025; the benchmark contained 265,738 Netflix subscribers. Fubo, ESPN or ESPN+, and Peacock receipts were measured from August 2025–July 2026. Direct merchant identification undercounts app-store billing across all groups. The observable group does not represent every tournament registration. Overlap was measured after sign-up but does not establish rival-subscription order, simultaneous use, or substitution.
