Did the difference appear in a more recent window?
Yes. When paid-AI ownership was measured from July 2024–July 2025 and Envato cancellations from July 2025–July 2026, 36.9% of 176 paid-AI subscribers canceled or expired, versus 30.6% of 310 subscribers without paid AI. The second window showed the same direction with a smaller gap.
Does paid-AI ownership explain why subscribers canceled?
No. The groups placed a similar average number of Envato orders, but paid-AI subscribers may differ in other ways that the panel cannot observe. The result is an association, not proof that an AI tool replaced Envato or caused cancellation. App-store AI billing is also undercounted.
Assumptions & Methodologies
We analyzed YipitData’s U.S. e-receipt panel. The primary group contained 476 active Envato Elements subscribers observed in 2024. Paid AI meant a direct receipt from OpenAI, Anthropic, Midjourney, Perplexity, ElevenLabs, or Suno. Cancellation meant an Envato cancellation, subscription-ended, or expiry email in 2025. A second design repeated the comparison in consecutive July-to-July windows. Envato renewal receipts are incompletely captured, so absolute cancellation levels are not audited churn rates. App-store AI billing is undercounted, and the comparison does not establish substitution or causality.
