79.6% of Grindr Payers Paid No Other Tracked Dating App

Among 2,519 paneled Grindr subscribers, 79.6% paid no other tracked dating app; Grindr payers also averaged 3.23 paid months in the year.

Grindr payers were more concentrated in one tracked app than Tinder payers

Share of paneled U.S. app-store subscribers who paid no other app in the Grindr, Tinder, Hinge, Bumble, and Feeld set, August 2025–August 2026

Source: YipitData U.S. e-receipt panel. Grindr n=2,519; Tinder n=7,083. Scruff, Sniffies, and direct or web billing were not observed, so single-app shares are upper bounds.

Were Grindr payers also more persistent?

Yes. Grindr subscribers averaged 3.23 paid months during the 12-month window, and 18.8% had payments in at least six months. The group was not limited to subscribers paying for Grindr in only one or two months.

Did the single-app gap persist among male subscribers?

Among male subscribers, 79.5% of Grindr payers paid no other tracked dating app, compared with 67.5% for Tinder, 48.0% for Hinge, and 40.3% for Bumble. This comparison reduces, but does not eliminate, demographic differences between the cohorts.

What does the analysis not measure?

The analysis does not measure willingness to pay, price elasticity, or same-day active subscriptions. Scruff and Sniffies were not observable, while direct and web billing was excluded. The 79.6% figure is therefore an upper bound for single-app payment across the broader dating market.

Assumptions & Methodologies

We compared established U.S. e-receipt panelists with Apple or Google subscription receipts from August 2025 through August 2026. The tracked set covered Grindr XTRA or Unlimited, Tinder subscriptions, Hinge subscriptions, Bumble Premium, and Feeld Majestic; Grindr Boost and Day Pass purchases were excluded. Single-app means no payment to another tracked app during the window. Paid months counts distinct calendar months with a subscription receipt and is a persistence proxy, not exact tenure. Scruff, Sniffies, and direct or web billing were not observed.
