Were members without a 2026 Hydrow payment more likely to pay a connected-fitness rival?

No. A tracked connected-fitness rival appeared among 9.5% of the 443 members without a Jan.–July 2026 Hydrow payment and 9.6% of the 481 who paid Hydrow again. Among members with no tracked rival payment in 2024, first observed rival payments in January–July 2026 were also similar at 1.8% and 1.5%, respectively.

How often did members return after a full year without Hydrow payments?

Among 226 members who paid Hydrow in 2023 and had no Hydrow payment throughout 2024, 8.4%, or 19 members, paid Hydrow again from January 2025 through July 2026. Another 2.2%, or five members, later paid a tracked connected-fitness rival.

Does no tracked paid fitness spending mean the member stopped exercising?

No. Card data does not show whether a member without later Hydrow payments kept using a Hydrow rower without a paid membership, exercised outdoors, used free video, or accessed fitness through an untracked bundle or cash payment. The result describes paid activity visible in the card panel, not exercise behavior.

Assumptions & Methodologies

We analyzed YipitData’s U.S. Credit & Debit Panel. Hydrow membership meant recurring online Hydrow charges from $15–$120; hardware charges were excluded. Among 924 members who paid in 2024, 481 had another payment in January–July 2026 and 443 did not. We checked both groups for Peloton, iFit or NordicTrack, Echelon, Tonal, Ergatta, and major gyms and studios. The reactivation test followed 226 members who paid in 2023 but not 2024 through July 2026. Card data misses free, bundled, cash-paid, and unpaid fitness use. Results are directional and do not establish why members stopped paying.
