Source: YipitData U.S. e-receipt panel. Renewal cohort n=1,360; credential-platform segment n=98. Credential platforms were Coursera, Udemy, and Skillshare. Enrichment-only subscribers paid at least one tracked media or self-improvement service but none of those three platforms; no-overlap subscribers paid neither set. The 3.6-point difference is not statistically meaningful.

What else did MasterClass subscribers pay for?

Among 2,191 observable MasterClass subscribers from August 2024 through August 2026, 43.2% also paid Netflix, 36.4% paid Audible, and 26.8% paid Spotify. By comparison, 5.0% paid Udemy, 4.6% paid Coursera, and 1.7% paid Skillshare; about 7% paid at least one of those three credential platforms. The renewal comparison indicates that this smaller credential-platform segment was not a more loyal MasterClass group.

Does the comparison show that professional MasterClass products will not work?

No. The analysis describes existing subscribers and does not test a new product or marketing offer. The credential-platform group contained only 98 subscribers, so its exact 53.1% renewal rate is imprecise and the 3.6-point gap is not statistically meaningful. The evidence supports no observed renewal advantage, not lower loyalty. App-store billing and services without a direct merchant label may also be missing.

Assumptions & Methodologies

We analyzed YipitData’s U.S. e-receipt panel. The wallet cohort included 2,191 active panelists with a direct MasterClass receipt from August 2024 through August 2026. The renewal cohort included 1,360 subscribers with a 2024 receipt and full visibility through January 2025–March 2026; renewal required another MasterClass receipt in that window. Credential platforms were Coursera, Udemy, and Skillshare. Enrichment-only subscribers paid a tracked media or self-improvement service but none of those platforms; no-overlap subscribers paid neither set. Direct receipts miss app-store and unlabeled billing, and annual receipts do not show cancellation.
