Was the difference specific to outdoor-navigation subscriptions?

The largest relative differences appeared in outdoor services. AllTrails overlap was 3.3× as high among Offroad subscribers, and Strava overlap was 2.5× as high. By comparison, Netflix was 1.1× as common and Spotify was 1.4× as common among Offroad subscribers. This pattern indicates that the segment difference was concentrated in outdoor navigation rather than every subscription category.

Assumptions & Methodologies

We analyzed YipitData’s U.S. e-receipt panel from August 2024 through August 1, 2026. The product cohorts included 2,026 onX Offroad subscribers and 7,354 onX Hunt subscribers identified from Apple and Google receipt text. Overlap required any paid receipt for the named app in the same window. Direct onX receipts can omit the product line, Backcountry was too small to isolate, and app receipts measure billing rather than use. Same-window co-payment does not establish which service came first, whether the apps served the same need, switching, or causation.
