Did Philo subscribers hold fewer streaming services overall?

No. Philo subscribers averaged 0.65 other directly billed major streaming services, compared with 0.55 for the peer group. Their lower sports-streaming rate therefore did not coincide with a smaller measured streaming wallet overall. The analysis does not show whether Philo’s content caused the difference.

Assumptions & Methodologies

We analyzed active U.S. e-receipt panelists from February 1–August 1, 2026. Philo subscribers had a direct recurring payment receipt; free-channel users were excluded. The peer cohort contained non-canceled Sling, Fubo, or DIRECTV subscribers and excluded Philo subscribers. Sports streaming included ESPN+, MLB.TV, NBA League Pass, DAZN, NHL, NFL, and UFC subscription receipts. Discovery+ and AMC+ comparisons were omitted because their Philo samples were too small. App-store and indirect billing can be missed, and same-window overlap does not establish sequence, substitution, or causality.
